DESIGN
The design of these units thoughtfully considers the natural surroundings and the unique character of the mountain environment. A robust metal frame is paired with large painted doors that feature a smooth gradient, transitioning from near-white at the base, through a subtle light blue, to a cool, muted blue at the top. This evokes the mountain sky and snow-capped peaks. Discreet triangular accents in light green, positioned on the right side, suggest the silhouettes of spruces, gently enlivening the composition. Rounded panel edges and minimal seams further emphasize the seamless blend with the landscape without interrupting the panoramic view.
Thanks to the new self-service boxes, mountain hut operators can significantly streamline restocking, reduce staffing and external storage costs, and offer guests greater flexibility in collecting ordered supplies. The Velká Úpa project clearly shows that modern solutions and a sensitive architectural approach can bring genuine added value both to operators and to visitors of mountain huts.
The self-service boxes in Velká Úpa offer a modern, yet thoughtfully executed technical solution that effectively combines functionality with respect for the mountain environment. Their design proves that even a concrete structure can blend harmoniously with nature and deliver real added value for both hut operators and their guests.
