For us at ALFA3, it was a useful and very relevant conference. We attended two panel talks that stood out in particular. One was about out-of-home delivery becoming the default choice for consumers. The other focused on returns and reverse logistics in eCommerce. Both talks touched on topics that are very close to our daily work as a parcel locker manufacturer.

What we heard
A strong message from the out-of-home panel was that lockers and pickup points only work well when the network is dense, easy to use, and shown clearly at checkout. If the consumer cannot find a nearby option, or if the process feels complicated, they will usually stay with home delivery.
That point made a lot of sense to us. A parcel locker is not just a box in the street. It is part of a wider system. It needs good placement, good software, and a clear role in the customer journey. When those parts work together, out-of-home delivery becomes much more attractive for both merchants and shoppers.
The returns panel was just as interesting. It showed how much returns are changing. They are no longer just a cost to deal with at the end of the sales process. They are now part of a bigger strategy. New EU rules, including the upcoming return button, will make digital return handling even more important. The discussion also showed how much value can be saved when returns are processed locally and efficiently.

What we took away
- First, out-of-home delivery needs infrastructure. If the network is not there, the customer cannot use it.
- Second, the checkout matters. If out-of-home is not easy to choose, many shoppers will never switch to it.
- Third, returns are part of the same story. The same network that helps delivery can also make returns simpler, faster, and cheaper.

For us, NordiX Forum was a reminder that parcel lockers are becoming a bigger part of modern e-commerce. They are no longer just a nice extra. They are becoming an important part of how parcels move, how customers shop, and how goods come back into the system.
It was a valuable trip for us, and we came home with fresh ideas, useful insights, and a stronger belief in the role that out-of-home delivery will play in the future.
